Declan is turning 12 this August. I’m preparing to throw him a meaningful celebration of everything he is (if we are being honest- the first one).

I think it is really important for him to know he’s surrounded by amazing people who know how amazing he is.

I am grateful for your willingness to take a moment to give him a brief statement he can hear, and remember when the going gets tough.

The request for a photo of you is so he can put a visual face to the words, seeing as written/spoken communication isn’t our strength yet. ;)

I’ll create a binder he can have in his room and look through whenever he wants the personalized encouragement and happy everyone has lovingly compiled for him.

On my birthday, while at Olive Garden, the labor pains started kicking in, literally…

In the middle of the night, I knew it was time to go in. Loki Ferdinand Houdini was by my side the whole time. I rubbed my blanket on Loki to get his scent on it and…

the very next night my new best friend was sleeping next to me - wrapped in my baby blanket that smelled like his brother, 18 months older than him.

For a few years after that, the two of us went to Olive Garden for our birthday celebration dinner, so we could both enjoy the experience of him *gently* kicking me from the outside.

He was due on Labor Day, but decided that wasn’t his day.
