SEMCIL's Assistive Technology Lab

$0.00

Contact SEMCIL at: 507-285-1815
Visit us at: 2200 2nd St. SW Rochester, MN 55902

SEMCIL’s Assistive Technology (AT) Program was started in 2019 and is designed to increase access to AT devices, software, and services for people of all ages and abilities. Tours of the AT Lab are offered and can be conducted in person or virtually. SEMCIL’s AT Lab houses a variety of low to high-tech vision, hearing, mobility, computer and related peripherals, and daily living devices.

Device Demonstrations are available to individuals with disabilities, their families, providers, and qualified professionals. Demonstrations are provided in-person or virtually and allow you to compare the features and benefits of devices. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and try devices at no cost.

Short-Term Loans are available to individuals with disabilities and professionals at no cost. Short Term Loans are available for up to 30 days to trial the device in your unique setting (home, employment setting, educational setting, in the community). Loans help the borrower determine if the device is going to meet their needs before making a decision to purchase the device. Professionals have access to loans to provide training and education to staff and/or individuals they support.

Assistive Technology is any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that increases, maintains, or improves the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities.

SEMCIL is a proud partner of STAR (System of Technology to Achieve Results). STAR is MN’s federally funding AT Program. Their mission is to help Minnesotans with disabilities gain access to and acquire the assistive technology they need to live, learn, work and play.
